Event - needing to beg for volunteers

LOST GENERATION - and they wonder why?

A: What are you doing next week?
B: Nothing.
A: There's an event, can you help me out?
B: Don't know. I think I'm busy on that day.

Hmmm...? If you were not interested, fair enough. I mean I wouldn't want to volunteer at an event that wasn't my cup of tea.

Totally forgot I was whinging about this. Cut the story short - I was organising the Mid-Autumn Festival and I needed some helpers. However, youths these days are so busy so the excuse, 'there isn't anything to do therefore we hang about in town' isn't correct. Anyhow, it felt as if I had to beg and I don't do begging. The way I see, I'm creating an opportunity for you to put something down on your CV so if you don't take it, get out my way.
Somehow, the people who said they were busy (and genuinely were) ended up changing their plans for me. I was truly touched and first of all, made sure they got fed! Afterall they were MY TEAM. CHEERS guys, much appreciated.
Then after the event, I got some texts from people who claimed they were busy asking me to inform them of any volunteering duties. Now they know how I'm helping them out.

Here's a little advice: when the dice is rolled, you move and make your decision. Giving a 'maybe' don't work in reality because it'll be the next player turn; if you don't take it, they will.
