we have to use these remote control things to answer questions and take attendance in my chemistry class. the teacher keeps saying how they're not like our tv remote controls from home, they don't work if you just point them in the general direction of the remote control operator. so me being the undramatic one that i am, i freak out and aim my remote toward the receptor, vigorously pushing the button 100 times. i even squint one eye and try to line it up directly. so you have to watch the screen to see if your number lights up so you get credit for it, and of course mine never works. again, panic strikes and i hurl my remote at the stranger next to me and ask her to do it for me. well this went on all last tuesday and again today, until about 3/4 the way into class i notice- why isn't anyone pointing their remotes in the same place i am? good thing i was aiming my remote at the WRONG THING! there are these two black box things on the wall with a little blue light on them. i mean, to the untrained eye they look as good a remote control receptor as any! and then i spy the tiny little cubes in the corner with the blinking red lights and my true stupidity sank in. how am i going to get an A if i can't even point my remote at the right thing?
in other news, it is ridiculously cold outside. this is common news to all, but listen to me: it is cold. i don't think the depth of that statement is fully understood. seriously, i HATE the cold. and i've been looking like the biggest moron walking to class bundling up like the abominable snowman. today i didn't wear my pink polka dot hat though because the last time i did, poorna spotted me coming out of the bookstore when she was all the way at the top of the awkward steps. and then she laughed at me all the way to my car.
eh, today was fun. laura and i came home and grubbed on the tub of chocolate chex mix while oprah was on. speaking of oprah, i would really like to go see her next fall and would like to go ahead and look into getting tickets. so if anyone wants to go, let me know. then laura started making stir fry for us all (i helped! i don't like carrots!) and it was sooooo good. then we went to patrick's to "do homework" but really all we did was laugh at church signs. then we played a fun game of "Patrick reads the tammel (i don't know how to spell it but it rhymes with camel) word and Poorna and Susan guess the English word". I know more tammel than Poorna! Ok fine, with words like "spoon" and "beetroot", I was good to go, but still, I whooped her.
