This fanmix is a birthday gift I made for mad_teagirl, my partner in crime for most things fandom-y. I began this mix because I felt both the first mix and the second mix I made for her birthday were way too depressing. Sure, sad things can be lovely, but birthdays shouldn't be times for sad things. I was determined to make her mix that didn't make her want to curl up in the fetal position and weep. I decided on Cassie, Sid and Tony because they are our Skins OT3 with happily-ever-after potential. And I'm so glad I chose to do a mix for these three, because this has ended up being one of my absolute favourite fanmixes to put together.

Tony is in Cardiff. Cassie is in New York. Sid is lost somewhere in between.

When Sid finds Cassie, she refuses to return to Bristol with him. After dozens of fruitless arguments, Sid gives finally gives up and heads back home.

Surprising herself, Cassie follows Sid back to Bristol. She greets him at his doorstep with a kiss and a promise that she will try to be with him again, but only if they can be together somewhere that isn’t here.

[Tony]
He's an ignorant boy
I'm the ignorant boy
She's the ignorant girl
Tony opens the front door to his place in Cardiff only to find Sid and Cassie looking up at him, hands held with one suitcase between them.

They take things a day at a time. Slowly rebuilding. Getting to know each other all over again.

Months have passed. Sometimes the two of them fucked, but mostly they just spent time hanging out at the apartment with Tony. Cooking. Smoking. Talking.

They had been headed to this place for ages, they all knew this. Well, Sid didn’t, but Cassie had foreseen it from the beginning. To her, it was only a matter of time and circumstance. And now was that time and that circumstance.

[Sid]

You've changed
This new thing with Tony terrifies Sid. Everything with Cassie is still so fragile and he's sure Tony is going to be the one to wreck the delicate life the three of them have begun to build together. He lets Tony know this.
9. Anya Marina - Satellite Heart
[Cassie]
So pretty, so smart
Such a waste of a young heart
What a pity, what a sham
What's the matter with you, man?
After Sid blows up at him, Tony runs. Cassie convinces him to come back.
10. Jens Lekman - A Higher Power
[Tony]
In church on Sunday making out in front of the preacher
You had a black shirt on with a big picture of Nietzsche
When we had done our thing for a full Christian hour
I had made up my mind that there must be a higher power
Tony has always been up for a tumble, but the surprising thing was how much he had grown to love Cassie. It was almost as much as his love for Sid. She was important. Special. He dreads the day that he comes home to no longer find them both chattering away in their his living room.
11. Patrick Wolf - Get Lost
[Sid]
We could stay here 'til closing time
But the drinks are flat
And the price is a crime
We could dance 'til our feet turn red
But the beat's so boring
And I’d rather be home in our bed
Sid is the last person who thought things would end up this way. Sure, he had had multitudes of domestic bliss filled dreams about Cassie, but his best friend Tony being a full-fledged third member of the relationship was not something he had ever planned on. And sure sometimes Sid's insecurities get the best of him, sometimes he fears Cassie and Tony will realize that he's a useless idiot and that they should just go elope in France without him. But that's only some days. Most days he's simply glad this is the way things ended up.
12. Laura Veirs - Spelunking
[Cassie]
I believe in you
In your honesty and your eyes
Even when I'm sloshing
In the muck of my demise
Cassie will love Sid until the day she dies, and maybe that isn't such a hardship anymore. If she can spend her days here with him and Tony, maybe she won't mind it. She'll be happy. She'll be safe.
13. We Are Scientists - After Hours
[Tony]
This night is winding down but

As always at this hour

One final final round cos

We're all right where we're supposed to be
Waiting on the train platform after what can only be described as an eventful Christmas back in Bristol, Sid turns to Tony and says "Let's go home". Cassie takes Sid's hand in her left and Tony's hand in her right.
14. The Divine Comedy - Threesome

The train headed towards Wales arrives. The three of them board.
