So this past week I took part in a mini-fanmix meme where I took requests over on tumblr. I had a blast working with all sorts of fandoms and ended up filling a total of 11 requests, which I'll be cross-posting here over the next few days (I don't want to do it all at once since I'd feel guilty for clogging up your friendspage!)
Number eight of the mini-mixes is a Dean/Castiel AU mix requested by morningxfine!
I played around with a few AU concepts until I decided on what I suppose is a bit of a fantasy epic. The story was pretty much shaped around Patrick Wolf's 'Divine Intervention'.
In this verse, Castiel is a Holy Knight on a quest to find the Righteous Man, who just happens to be Dean Winchester. Dean is a solitary huntsman who just wants to be left alone. Castiel is insistant and follows the other man on his travels, much to Dean's frustration. Of course, the woods are dangerous and the unlikely pair keep ending up having to save eachother's lives. After one particular life-threatening situation Dean finally accepts that he has an ally and begins to open up. That night Castiel learns that Dean had a younger brother named Sam who was taken by Lucifer. Castiel reveals to Dean that he knows how to find Lucifer's kingdom and they embark on a quest to save Sam. On the way they kinda fall in love and, even though things get pretty bleak, they end up saving both Sam and the world.
So yeah, that's the basic story of the mix.
I really wish I could actually read that fic, haha! Because seriously, it would people be one of my favorite things in the world. So, um, if anyone feels inspired you should totally go for it! You would win my undying love and devotion.
