We decided last night that we would be up early on voting day and vote early.  After hubby brought me tea at 7, I went back to sleep.  I seemed to find the most perfectly comfortable position which doesn't happen everyday so we only got to the school to vote at about 10:15.  The queue was short but obviously the processing time was very long and we ( Read more... )

The holdup in my 1 3/4 hour wait was the bit where they scan the ID. Only one person doing it, so the actual voting stations were quiet, but the queue was a few hundred metres long.

Seems that not so many people in SA vote any more - what happened to those 8-12 hour queues?

The bar code scanner at our station was working when I went and not when my folks got there just after I left (like less than 5 minutes after I left) *shrug* It took me max 10 minutes to go through the process and my folks, even with the defective scanner, no more than 15 minutes. We did miss the bus from the retirement village though.

Perhaps we have more wards down here and so the load is spread better or I just live in an empty-ish ward but I have never really had to wait to vote.
