'it's been a long time comin'/goin' to be a long time gone'

Well....that's been something of a hiatus.  The short version:

DW 50th anniversary:  perfect; loved it; amazing.  Moffat solves the Time War and half provides the rest of the stories for the next 50 years.  Also--Tennant and Smith should take it on the road.  Well, truthfully, Smith and anyone could take it on the road, but the 10/11 thing was a joy.

DW Christmas:  Oh, my word.  Matt Smith--did you have to make everyone watching cry as hard as you did during the read-through?  Ditto to the 50th.  Moffat--I'm impressed; I'm not sure that more pressure could be applied, and you came through.  Classics.  And Clara replaces the receiver on the door of the TARDIS, and Handle's last words are a reminder about the re-routing, and filming spoilers reference a last phone call from Eleven to Clara while he's regenerating and Moffat wrote it all in except the actual scene and Jesus how good a writer is he??????????????????

Sherlock:  not fond of "The Empty Hearse," although I liked the idea of Watson's punching Holmes out for the deception.  Worst Sherlock episode:  "The Blind Banker"; next, "Hounds of the Baskervilles"; next, "The Empty Hearse."  Sorry, Gatiss.  "The Great Game" was one of the best, but the others fail, in my opinion.  The problem, I think, is tone:  Gatiss' work is uneven because his grasp of tone is uneven.  Master moment, as an example:  Eleven's farewell to River--Moffat is astonishing (and intimidating) in his ability to write scenes that can incorporate a disparate group of moods; actors and directors also have an influence--but the material has to be there.  Gatiss.....not so much.

"Sign of Three"--much better, albeit I'm not liking this season's Mrs. Hudson.  Mary--love.  Mrs. Hudson:  why?

"His Last Vow":   oh, hi, Steven Moffat!  Yes.

CoS closing:  unintentionally funny, and a reminder of how odious people can be.

The speed dating equivalent of reactions/thoughts/opinions.
