This will probably be the only free time I have in the next few weeks, where I won't feel guilty about spending some time online. Right now I'm typing with a huge band-aid on my left pinky, and I damn near sliced off the edge near my nail yesterday at work. I was washing a glass vessel when it slipped and broke about two inches from my hand. Slash, blood...and everyone in eyeshot asking me "Are you Okay?". No, I'm not okay, because I'm 3 years old and have never seen blood or broken glass before. Do I stop, drop and roll? I got this, son, so back up.
The subject GRE is this coming saturday, and I'm locking down even harder than in the last month when I first began studying for it. I'm not too worried about the general GRE, because it's only going to require practice over a couple weeks. I've been tearing apart the Kaplan Biology GRE book for the last 4 weeks now, and it's like reading whole textbook for a final exam. It's taken me a little longer than usual, but only because of my 9-5 job, and my 1.5 hour daily commute to and from SF five days a week. Tell me you wouldn't just want to kick back for an hour in front of the TV after a long day of work. Still, I'm not too nervous about it. I took over 100 pages of notes, am about to kill the last chapter here at work (praise Jeebus for overnight autosampler Dissolution), and there's a party in Santa Cruz this weekend which I'll use as my REWARD for giving this test a swift kicking to the pant-al area. But still, life is going to get pretty crazy up until maybe the middle of January, which is when my first few Grad school applications are due. So far, I'm applying to:
Oregon State
University of Hawaii, Manoa
UC Davis
Texas A&M
Boston College
Drexel University
UPenn
SF State
The list might get cut by one or two, but we'll see. My social life has taken a cut since last month, but I feel that it's a necessary sacrifice to get back into school and continue my education. Alex and I finally threw our housewarming party two weeks ago, and it was good times all around. I was surprised how many people make a trip to come; some came all the way from LA, some from Santa Cruz, San Jose, the East Bay...and there isn't a single stain on the carpet. I managed to almost lose my voice (Dre yells a lot when he's faded), but that was due to the fact that I spend the ENTIRE time talking to people. I didn't get a drunk as Alex, but I'm glad I didn't. Good friends, good times, Jameson, and cranberry juice...I'll just leave it at that. We'll do it again sometime in the early 2007, now that I know that the family upstairs doesn't care, and our neighbors are nice and oblivious enough. I mean, the guy right next door hired a dog acupuncturarist for his old Boxer, Sandy. The day after the party, we watched this beaded, Hari Krishna-looking guy walking up the driveway to their house. I crown them king and queen Hippy. Long live the age of Patchouli...
