this land is big, this land is bigger.

Alright, so Owen Pallett is officially smarter and weirder than anyone else I've ever known or heard of. Do his ramblings make sense to anyone? Spectrum is an EP about a pre-yet-post-colonial country in many ways similar to Canada that worships him as its single deity, hates the gays and anticipates the rapture in the form of videogame apocalypse.

*sigh*

He's so dreamy.

In other news: aodijladfakdfjadkfjad. School is draining my will to live simply by virtue of being dull as rocks. No work is yet manifesting, no deadlines loom until October, I've done nothing but watch the first season of Mad Men and attempt to read half a John Grisham book (I've given that ill-advised bit of self-punishment up for my former fiction prof's Cellist of Sarajevo, which I heard he got a million dollar advance for, the jerk). As always, my life is on hold while I'm out here in the isolated reaches of maritime culture, and I sleep ten hours a day, eat a lot of cookies and have no urge to write anything beyond the odd utilitarian or whining email. :/

So tomorrow me and one of my librarian buddies are renting a car and driving to the Bay of Fundy to go whale-watching. The humpbacks are there this time of year and I look forward to floating out in the cold grey tide in a dinghy and a lifejacket, and thinking lecherous thoughts about Owen Pallett's ridiculous self-referential ass.
