Let's Do the Time Warp Again.
20 years ago today - 1983 - age 23. I was in school majoring in English and Communications, living with my rock and roll drummer boyfriend of two years (and to continue for ten more) and three cats. I had met my best friend (to this day) only the year before. This is the year her sister (who was also my friend) became schizophrenic, lost to us forever after.
10 years ago today - 1993 - age 32. My relationship was just about to crash and burn, although I am ignoring the warning signs--such as that he’s alternately very critical and very loving, and prone to giving me excessively generous gifts. Working as an agent to the semi-famous with awesome Ellie and Dan. Living with bf, four cats, a dog, and two mice.
5 years ago today - 1998 - After five years of dramatic ups and downs, I had a job I loved doing desktop publishing, great friends, and I was a month away from meeting my husband-to-be.
3 years ago today - 2000 - Whoo-ee, life sure can change. Who would know my fuzzy girl and I would be in California, living with my love and traveling around getting to know my new state? Struggling with great homesickness and missing my family and friends in the East, but loving my guy.
One year ago today - Yikes, preparing for my wedding. Most definitely not my thing. The wedding was beautiful and different, but planning it sucked. I’ve never been a really girly-girl, nor an event-planner type. Should we serve chicken or fish - gag.
Yesterday - Spurred on by my dad’s cancer, got blood drawn to test cholesterol and sugar levels for the first time in oh, maybe, eight years.
Tomorrow - Busy day. Aerobics in a.m., a party at family friends’ in the afternoon, evening dinner at D&S’s and meeting their reputedly-very-cool friends Doug and Shane (couple) for the first time. An honor.
