Split Personalities

Have you ever felt like you were in a relationship with two people who share one body? No, I am not talking about multiple personalities.

I am in a wonderful relationship with my Sir, Lochai. When we are at home or out at scene functions, he is Sir or Lochai. (Depending on whether I am talking to him or talking about him.) During the day, he has his vanilla life. So do I. We both get up, go to work, etc. When I speak to him from the office, I call him by his first name or honey, at least until I am out of my co-workers hearing range. Same thing when we are around either of our families, my friends in recovery (12 step), or his co-workers. Sometimes it can get to be confusing, like when he introduces me to someone who we run into at a restaurant, or when people from the scene do business with him. I don't always know whether I should refer to him as my Sir or my boyfriend.

I find it amusing. There are times when I feel like I have two relationships to maintain - one D/s and one vanilla. Other times, I get hopelessly confused. I use "he" or "we" instead of names because I am not sure which is appropriate. Luckily, the conversations he has with these other people usually clues me in on which way to go.

I was talking with a friend last night, laughing about how easy it is to get tripped up with his two names. She agreed. When I told Lochai about it, he suggested that I write about it to see if anyone else has had similar experiences. I would love to hear them. I get such a kick out of things like this. :)
