Back from ten days away and I dont feel like working. I feel like writing though. Strange mood. Dunno if this is because home doesn't quite feel like home right now, or that I'm in danger of being mothered (yes I meant that), or because I've been reading *too* much recently (go figure), or post-travel stress (blues). It is good to be home though! So much to do, not sure where to start.
Well the trip was pretty interesting. A few days down at my parents in sunny Yealand (home village), petting the cats, being fed good food, and generally chilling out. Then Sirin and I were off down to London. Those bus trips dont get any easier. My dad took us down to Preston to connect with the bus, then it was a very very long windy trip down the Eastcoast to London. We arrived exhausted (as usual) in London around 7am... managed to get our room early at the hotel. Slept for a few hours, woke up feeling seriously shit! Changed then we headed off across town on the metro to Heathrow airport to collect Sirins mum. Lots of stress and worries wondering if she got through customs or not - she doesn't speek any English so it could have been messy. Thankfully everything was okay. It was really good to see Sirin's mum again, and somewhat surreal. Tables turned from my trip to Istanbul where I spoke no Turkish...
That night we met with Chris from Mushroom (Garbage) at a pub, swapped Garbage stories and fan gossip. Seriously cool chap, prolly about 25, and responsible for lots of the UK promotion etc. He said that Mushroom UK was tiny... basically 3 people plus support staff, which was suprising. He seemed to think there will be a 4th album, but really had little more to tell us. It was just cool meeting him!
Following day we did the touristy stuff and took Sirins mum to Big Ben etc... watched a great rain storm from the safety of the tube station exit at Westminster... narrowly missed that showering (dull, dull, dull, but it was pretty cool to watch... lots of miserable wet tourists... it was just like being back home in Scotland again).
Next day - Birtish Museum... met with Barry in the morning and then we spent the day there... the main building at that place is amazing... very scifi. Huge curve of glass. Ended the day weirdly, with the strangest psudo-fight with Sirin... it was silly though, as fights always are, aren't they?
Late bus back up to my parents. Another 6 hours of misery in a cramped smelly bus.
Parents spoiled us rotten. Gungor had brought a mountain of gifts, which was a total suprise, and my folks fed us fantastic meals and took us to see lots of local attractions. I might sound like a kiddy when I write this, but the tigers and lions at Dalton park were just COOL :) Played excessive sessions of badmington with Sirin... talked about nothing, thought about nothing... it was really nice... I think we all got to kinda let out hair down for a bit.
It was over to short... two days later and we're back here in damp stormy Edinburgh. Blah.
