lost weekend (now with added bookblogging)

Where did my weekend go??? It's like it disappeared into this fever dream of bad Libertines fanfiction and compulsive wikipedia-ing of eighties post-punk bands...wait, that's not like what happened, that is what happened. ;_;

Suppose the weekend isn't over. Suppose, if I am very good tomorrow, I may finish on time for a late movie at ( Read more... )

Ahaha yes, I was a compulsive book reader too! Eventually I also wised up to the fact that things needed to be done. Like laundry and cooking. (Which now gives me an excuse to read cook books instead. -_-;;) I do love the fact that when she is dug out of her books, she holds her own against Rollo and that she's brave enough to write to the King asking for a volunteer position.

The point you made about the Lubbock and the kobolds were great, it didn't occur to me either that it was essentially slave labour, though I'm wondering that if the Charmain's uncle got along so well with this kobold clan, he must have paid them. Ie. like domestic services are a package deal, gardening is extras? And it could well be that Rollo's actual job may require very little work -- there are low-tech ways to keep your plants watered regularly for example, and maybe his only job is to renew the spells or something. Though I'm wondering if the milk and groceries are also sourced from the market -- ie. grocer just dumps the order for the day into a magical basket, and money is automatically credited (clearly a magically efficient society to me is one that is nearly indistinguishible from an electronic one). After all, they seem to treat elves very respectfully in part because they pay very well. Now I want to plan what magically efficient societies are like. -_-;;

I think I tended to read the House of Many Ways like the eccentric cousin of a five star hotel. (Fresh towels everyday! Breakfast! Your bed gets magically made!) and the kobolds er, just don't figure much.

But Sophie's reaction to Howl-as-a-child was priceless. "Morgan's being looked after by..." and in comes Morgan, with Calcifer and Disguised!Howl in tow, "my husband. and his fire demon." To have been a fly on the wall, once Morgan was put to bed and they alone in the bedroom! XD XD XD

Not enough written about the House, definitely.

Oh good, then I don't mind picking up more Temeraire -- finally, his very own POV! XD I'm guessing the female would be Iskierka? I can't imagine whatshername, Mei Ling? the China girl dragon leaving her country to look for T. *cackles* Kinokuniya at my place has 20% off, now is the time to score books!
