THE One Thing......
Say for instance, one day on a warm summer night you are walking down the beach minding your own business and just enjoy to time to yourself, when biggity-bam, you stub your damn toe. So you look down wilst wondering what the hell you could have possibly stubbed your toe on, and you find something resembling the gennie's lamp from the Disney movie Aladdin. You as the pain subsides and your curiosity takes the best of you, you reach down a pick up the lamp. Now thinking who and the hell would have left something like this just lying around on a beach, the thought of a life time hits you. What if this could be a gennie's lamp and the only thing that is different from the legend is that you only get to wish for one thing, what would that one thing be?
Now it has took me a few minutes to contemplate this question and ponder what the ONE thing would be that I would wish for, but I have finally got it. The things I think that people would ask for more then anything else, and mind you that these are the top three, would be money, life-long happiness, and superpowers. I would not ask for an endless supply of money because even though that would be great and all sorts of fun, I think that it wouldn't make you work hard enough for anything and you wouldn't have the same respect for things that you would as if you worked for something, and in some way cheapen the meaning of life. For the life-long happiness bit I wouldn't ask for that just because something that great is in my opinion something best served warm. With that I mean if you just wished to be happy for your life, yeah you would be happy in the end, but I think that just by knowing that I simply wished for the happiness and hadn't earned it myself, would just ruin the wish and make it sour. For the superpowers gig, hell yes by all that is holy that would be awesome, I would have to turn this down because I would do a lot of evil fucked up things and rob millions of people from the fruits of life and that isn't cool at all, on any level. The one thing that I would ultimately ask for would have to be the one thing that I had for 14 years and then one cruel day was robbed of. This thing that I would ask for would be a new pancreas. Lord how good it would feel not to have to watch what I eat, not have to take shots, and not having to worry about not waking up and stealing my company from those that I love. This one thing I would ask for because it would allow me to look at things from the brite side from the beginning of things instead of using hind-site to find it. I think that ever since I was told that I have diabetes, it has caste a quite possible permanent shadow over my life due to when that happened, it made me think that only things that were ever going to befall me for the remainder of my life, were going to be bad. From this aspect of everything I believe that it would make life infinetly better.
