Yeah, I know. Am reading through my old stash of Historical (or Masquerade) Harlequins, laughing myself silly. Man, it's like the worst of ff.net!
My absolute favorite moment was two days ago, when I read a 'medieval romance' from England, where some great knight returned from Agincourt to see his lands seized and his bride taken. The book was set in the year 1412. It was mentioned somewhere that 'the early Spring rains' were quite spectacular.
*headdesk*
At least people who write slash (and don't even get paid for it) usually check stuff like that. I mean yeah, there's the school that thinks 'historical slash' equals whatever crap and then using lamp oil as lube, but come on. At least they don't even try to make it sound like it's got anything to do with real history.
