Today I have on wide-legged boyfriend jeans in violet pinwale corduroy and a Mexican peasant blouse of unbleached muslin with colorful flowers hand-embroidered on the yoke. My earrings, made by my sister as a birthday gift, are long and dangly, with strands of multi-colored glass seed beads hanging down from a Fimo skull bead. For shoes, I'm wearing black suede fisherman sandals.
I bought these purple trousers on a whim, since they were on sale for less than ten dollars. It's interesting to see how far I feel comfortable pushing them in color combinations before I feel too gaudy (or maybe just too '80s). I think I'm finding the answer in treating them as total hippie wear. I would have worn this outfit at any time in high school. In fact, it's bringing back fond memories of other corduroys I owned then in pumpkin yellow and lime green. It's making me think harder about investing in the the revival of Kork-Ease sandals -- I wore those for years.
