Twenty Ninth Krieg - Phone

My, this is a rather delicate situation, is it not? I'm sure there are still some of you who have doubts as to the validity of whether the people here are fakes or not, but still. It would be better to be safe than sorry, would it not? Therefore, allow me to offer an ultimatum ( Read more... )

Hold on there, sparky. These people may be fakes, but that doesn't mean you can just kill them.

Why?

If the real versions of them cannot be returned unless the fake are slain, then how do you propose allowing the real ones their rightful place.

Do you really trust this town?

What if they're playing reverse psychologists? And who's to say the lives of the fakes aren't tied to the originals'?

Who's to say they aren't?

You're trying to play devil's advocate in a lose-lose situation. Do you really think the best course of action would ever be to just sit and watch?

[Here? Yes, it would be. But he doesn't really care.]

[When Bazett hears the man's words, she grips the phone so hard that her knuckles start turning white. When she finally composes herself enough to answer, her voices comes out in a slow, harsh whisper.]

Our comrades exist. They have never been erased or replaced. I will find a way to remember them and I will make the rest of the town do so as well. Therefore, you should stop making these offers.

What proof do you have that they are not fake?

You're new here, aren't you?

I have been here for more than a month. As for the supposedly "erased" people, I have evidence that they have never been replaced. For example, they do not behave like the town's other creations. Also, they retain their various regains. It was never their existence that was tampered with, but our memories of them.

This proves nothing! It would hardly be beyond the town to create such beings, regardless.

Or perhaps both were tampered with.

Mmm.

I'll assume this will just go the way of every other conversation, so shall we end it here?

No time for questioning, Major?

Perhaps, perhaps not. I'd rather think there's nothing to gather from them.

It's my duty, friend! I must serve the needs of the people.

It sounds like you want to kill people more than serve the needs of those unwilling to.

And if I should need to kill people to do my duty, and enjoy it, what of it?
