[Hey Mayfield. Have some mad giggling. This week? Has just been an utter blast on the Major's end. It takes him a moment before he can compose himself and begin to speak.]

My friends, it has certainly been a trying time this week, has it not? And now, with so many of our fellow citizens deceased [God, he tries so hard to not let his smile slip ( Read more... )

...I don't see what's so funny about the whole week, stranger. And the Lord's Prayer don't go like that either.

Perhaps you just don't have the eye for it then.

I know. I must admit, I always found the original a bit drab.

Yeah, maybe I don't.

Drab in what way, stranger?

A pity! I feel quite distraught for all those who are unable to appreciate the entertainment and joy life brings.

In that it's an empty chorus of praise to a tyrant.

I'm sure we've all got our idea of what entertainment is. Though I'd like ta know how ya came up with that explanation of yours.

My explanation of entertainment or my explanation of God?

Sounds like I'm gonna need both.

For my entertainment, I'm like any other person: I am entertained by what entertains me. There is no other real explanation.

As for God? His book doesn't give a flattering portrayal of him. For instance, all the enemies that come against Israel where appointed and forced to attack them by Him, only for Him to later kill those He gave such orders to.

The main conclusion one should come from this is that he's either a sociopath, or simply incapable of understanding mankind.

Then ya really don't have much right ta tell me whether I should be enjoyin' the mess outside, seein' as we've got different ideas of what entertainment is ( ... )

And yet they would not have disobeyed God's word if He hadn't made them. They chose to disobey them because God quite often put those seeds in their hearts Himself.

And that selfishness? That was exactly what God desired. He simply took an indirect route in reaching it, as so to make it seem like man was more culpable for its sin. I'm a firm believer of man choosing to sin on their own, but I have no doubt part of this is in thanks to God for the invention of sin, itself.

I'm hardly offended friend! Think nothing of it.

God gave man the choice of freewill. It's true that all man have this selfishness within'em, but it's up to them whether they wanna act on it or not. And if God did invent sin, he also invented the way out. When Jesus died for our sins, he bridged the gap between mankind and God, allowin' us the chance ta be redeemed for our sins. I ain't denyin' that the creation of sin was outside God's power and will, but I'm sayin' that it was a necessary part of God's plan as a whole for humanity. Everythin' he does is meant as a lesson to alla us, for it's only through trials and tribulations does our faith end up stronger.

Much obliged, stranger. Hate ta step on more toes than I already have.

Was it outside His power and will? It seems to me it was very much inside His will. What better way to control us, after all? We gained free will, and thus, the Lord needed to scramble to find another way to keep us obedient sheep in His flock.

Human beings never "gained" free will; we had it all along. It's part and parcel of what God gave humans when he created'em. But God knew that somewhere along the line, there'd be some who'd use it ta ignore'im in favor of bein' the master of their own lives, when by right only one man should be the Ruler and Master of all. He could've just created us without it, make us all mindless slaves, but he didn't. Instead, he let us choose for ourselves whether we'd walk with him or not.

Ya can choose whether ya want ta be part of his flock. God never needed ta "scramble" ta find a way ta keep us obedient; he always knew that there'd be some who'd never want ta follow him. But he'll always leave that option out there an' that there's the Lord's mercy for ya.

If you take solace in a book of lies written by a monster, then I suppose that is just your own personal preference, friend.
