This isnt about pets, its about farm animals, the stupidness stretches over into the animal welfare people and local authority.

Wow. It seems like the authorities should be charged with neglect - they've made it so the owners CAN'T care for them and won't do anything about it. Are the owners refusing to sign them over, or have they even asked about that?

As the owners were sent to prison for non-payment of fines imposed for failing to care for their animals, I think they are pretty much out of it.

A TV news update this afternoon said that the remaining animals were now being cared for by the RSPCA. The RSPCA just needed some sort of sign-over to be completed, and this has now been done. The RSPCA aren't a governmental body: they are a donation-funded charity.

The remaining animals are apparently not in too appalling condition, and were in a field with access to water and grazing. I think the ones that had to be put down were shut in the barn.
