Oh my god...that was so painful to read, as I have a Yorkie as well. I'm always afraid to let her offleash anywhere, always looking around to see if there are any big dogs. I'm so, so, so sorry and offer all my...hope, because I'm not religious and can't pray. =( If I had my own money I'd give a thousand ♥♥♥.

Ill pass on your good wishes.

Teddy was one of my mom's early puppies. He was one of my favorites. His brothers were Tucker and Tiger (my mom has a thing for litter themes) Even though he isnt ours anymore and hasnt been since he was about 8 months old, its still painful to hear something like this happening to him. I really hope he pulls through.

I hate to see little dog owners becoming afraid of large dogs because of stories like this... Mouse ADORES small dogs. He would rather play with a Yorkie than a lab any day...

I know, of course it's rare that a big dog would actually kill a small one, but it's also Dusya who provokes it. When a dog is jumping around her, sniffing and running and barking, trying to play, she gets really irritated and snaps at them. I'm afraid that also might provoke a defensive move or something, or they might swipe her with a paw while trying to play. I have nothing against big dogs--I adore them! I grew up with a pit bull and she was a love. Just now that I have a Yorkie it's different. x] We have met one or two really gentle large dogs--it was so sweet when Dusya lay down on that big lab mix's paws =).

I think the main issue is that these big dogs, when they are puppies, arent properly socialized so they see a small dog as a squeak toy.

My yorkie, Zack, was playing with a rottie pup who was significantly larger than he was and in play, he pawed at Zack. This actually fractured a rib and made him fear large dogs. As he got older, he became very untrusting of larger dogs. If he was introduced and allowed to sniff and get aquainted, he's perfectly fine. Like the neighbor's dog. They have this huge australian shepherd, Auggie, and theyre the best of buddies. Zack will even sneak out to go hang out with him and when we find them theyre either leaping and bounding all over the place or snuggled up sleeping.
