The only thing more ridiculous than the reality programming on SciFi Channel (I refuse to call it SyFy because it's a stupid name with a stupid rationale behind it) are the commercials for the reality programming on SciFi.

So I went on a bit of an adventure today! There was a comic book shop one exit down from my college, and since I'd never been ( Read more... )

Conspicuous CGI! Wire-fu! Spinning! It was so outlandish and I am feeling like outlandish right now.

I was puzzling over what it was that made you remark earlier at how distinct from Ten Eleven seemed (he seems similarly perky) but you totally cleared it up now and put a word to what he emanates -- he does seem to have a calmness to him (and I don't mean in juxtaposition with other Doctors, I just mean as to his own character). It's kind of pathetic that the word didn't come to me before. It's probably why I've been listening to him and going "almost Two-ish, but not really...almost Five-ish, but really not really..." Honestly the one he seems to reflect the most right now is Seven (in his casual moments, I guess), though so far, he seems distinct, but then I dunno what he's like at all, I guess, he's only had a few sentences. He'd have to seem distinct at this point, or void.

That was WAY WAY longer than I intended. I am so sorry I zoned out all over your comments. *headdesk*

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. He's perky, certainly (most Doctors are at least sometimes), but he seems less intense thus far, less manic than Nine and Ten. And while the mania had its place considering where Nine and Ten were, story-wise, I don't know if I could handle three Doctors in a row with that personality type without it growing grating.

He does remind me quite strongly of Two thus far, but again, this is maybe three sentences he's got so far, so judgment is suspended for now. But I really hope to fall in love with him.

re: debit cards

I have to sign for mine all the time. Some systems (like the one at my work) don't differentiate between debit and credit. If there isn't a place to put in the PIN, the store/restaurant/high tech drug dealer will need your signature. So BLEGH on that guy, even if he didn't mean to be patronizing.

(but i do have a pretty new icon to show off.)

I knew it! I knew I wasn't just making things up! I have had to sign for my debit card. Thank you. I feel vindicated now.

Even if he didn't mean to be patronizing, this kind of thing happens to me all the time - people assume that I only just got my license or am out having fun with Mommy's credit card or something. What exactly can I do to convince people I am not fifteen, Kaylie. :(

And yet in ten years I will be wondering how I can convince people I am fifteen. Dilemma.

Which is why I included a YouTube link to the new trailer! All you have to do is click it and mystically become qualified to comment on the rest of this entry, or at least the latter half of it. Unless you really don't want to be spoiled or didn't know that there was going to be a new Doctor. In which case, erm, I'm sorry to spoil the surprise. :(

Also, awww, icon. Their shirts match the field of flowers!

What exactly can I do to convince people I am not fifteen, Kaylie. :(Aside from growing two feet taller and getting plastic surgery to look like Madeline Kahn? Nuttin.* :( But as you say, in another ten years your youthful looks will be a good thing--not just because Only Young People Are Attractive (blegh) but because you'll still be allowed to geek out over things like cartoon robots ( ... )

I wouldn't mind looking like Madeline Kahn, I have to admit. Not enough to get plastic surgery, but, you know, if I could just wake up one morning and look like Madeline Kahn...

I have used looking young to my advantage on occasion, but it's mostly just so people who don't know me look extra-horrified when I crack a joke about threesomes or somesuch. I apparently managed to freak out most of my Film Studies class last semester by knowing what a dominatrix was, I don't know if I ever told you that story.

The thought of being a secret agent does make my life a lot more interesting, though.

Yeah, a lot of the comments Matt's made and Moff's made about Eleven makes him sound like a very, very different Doctor from Ten. More like a more pro-active Two, if anything. Which makes sense since Matt's a recently converted Two fanboy. XD

Is he really? That makes me so happy. Good job, Matt, clearly you are a right-thinking man of taste. And there really haven't been many Doctors like Two, so the thought of his personality cropping up again is squeeful.

You bet I'm tempted by the Allspark Almanac XD so. freaking. much. And then I force myself to remember that I have already probably spent too much on this fandom and I am currently jobless and shouldn't be so reckless, but. Tempting.

And why is it so difficult to find comprehensive references for TF characters...? I'm a bit baffled. I've gotten better at drawing characters from Animated - their designs are sleek, "organic" and easy to remember - but G1... ugh... don't get me started on trying to draw G1. XD There's a reason 99% of my fanart for it has been copout human-form characters because I just can't seem to master those character designs or make them expressive at all. Frustrating.

(btw, did my email get through? No worries if it has; I just wanted to make sure it didn't get lost in cyberspace. ^^)

It is like someone pulped pure nerdiness and then made paper out of it. And then wrote nerdy things on that paper. I regret my impulse purchase less every time I read it.

You've got me beat - %100 of my fanart thus far has been of copout human-forms, because I apparently become hopelessly confused in the face of, I don't know, cubes or perspective or something. I'm hoping the Animated bots will be easier to start with since their designs are more fluid and less based on hard polygons (maybe if I start with the femmes, since they're drawn to look like human women for the most part?), but the prospect of having to draw a robot that looks like a robot frightens me somewhat.

(It did - sorry I've been so poky about replying, but I've been mulling over some of the things you talked about and as yet haven't gathered my ideas up into a coherent reply. Oh, and thank you so very much for the link to the other thing. It absolutely made my evening.)
