Freedom,the word of yesteryear

Jan 05, 2009 17:01

Ah Freedom.Such a sweet thing considering how intangible it is.The beauty of it isn't so much that we have it,but that we can use it as we wish.

So what do you do when the government conspires to take that freedom away from you?Do you,the huddled masses now(as we have been since september 11 2001 it seems) yearn to be free again? Are you sick of the way the government turns its back on your cries and simply tells you "We here in the Government know how to make everything OK." Privacy may as well be gone now,at least as far as using a phone or computer because anytime at all the government could be listening and reading, all under the guise of protecting you. There are those who say "So what?If you aren't doing anything illegal you have nothing to worry about." That course of thought leads only to a destruction of liberty.Your privacy is not unimportant as these people believe. We should be able to live our lives without unwarranted government intrusion because they heard you or someone in your family use a word on the phone that they had red flagged.

Why is it that when the government is spying in on phone calls and emails of suspected terrorists, they cant get a warrant?Surely a judge would look at the evidence that the investigation has turned up and allow it if it "warranted" it.No freedom loving person is about to let some guy who wants to blow people up in a crowded subway get away with it after all,not if he has a means of stopping it.Alas, folks these days seem to think that anybody who the government suspects is a terrorist must be.So why bother with judges and warrants at all? They have cultivated a view of the government that is subtly saying they know whats best even if you don't and we, the American People have been mesmerized.

The real problem I believe is that freedom doesn't mean anything in this country anymore.Far too many people equate freedom with voting and think it stops there. Well I am saying here and now,NO!That is not the case at all. Freedom is your ability to wake up each morning, get out of bed and not have to worry about whether or not you are being watched.Freedom is sending your child to school and knowing that the education they are getting doesnt gloss over our failures in the past, but seeks to acknowledge them and encourage us to learn and improve from our failures.Freedom is knowing that if an officer of the government breaks into your home without a warrant, you have the right to stop them like any other criminal who did the same.Freedom is knowing that your government is the one that YOU want. There are those who would call me paranoid and say it isn't that bad, that I'm blowing things out of proportion. What fools these people are, to not see that tyranny doesn't always rise with a swastika on its flag and rhetoric spewing forth from its pulpit.
The people in our government(oh yes, they are people just as fallible and prone to error as you or I)have been there a long time. Its rare for a newcomer to get in,and even when he does that man now has a choice.Do you try and do whats right, being fought every step of the way by people who know the political machine, people who outnumber you, people who will do everything they can to make you feel inconsequential.Hell, they almost always win too.The other choice is to go along with the system. To do as the other senators and congressmen and supreme court justices do, accept the bribes and kickbacks and live large while feeding the people lines such as "The world changed after September 11th, and we must all make sacrifices."

So where is their sacrifice? What have they lost?Nothing, and they have gained everything. After all, when the only people allowed to vote on whether or not the congress or the president or the supreme court get more power is the congress and the president and the supreme court what do you expect the outcome to be?Do you honestly believe that there are enough noble souls in the halls of our government to stop this rampaging madness?Of course not, but you feel helpless to stop it."We can vote them out!", is the war cry and yet year after year, election after election, we end up staring dumbfounded as yet another sheister gets into office. We look and think to ourselves that maybe this person will be the one and each year, each election, we are disappointed. It is that subtle propaganda they've placed onto our tv screens, in our newspapers, on the blogs and in the magazines. "Your only real choice is us," they say.

Perhaps they are right too.In the United States of America, our only real choice come election time is them.So I take this moment to call for rebellion. I say if that is what America has become then it is no longer the defender of freedom and democracy. It no long protects the rights of the American people and so it is fitting and proper that when those needs are no longer met it is no longer a legitimate government and does not deserve to stand.Cast aside the decaying hulk of bureaucracy and wipe it from this earth. Bring about REAL change. We can't continue waiting and hoping that the next guy is the one who will fix things. We are the masses, and it is time to show the failed U.S.A. that we will not live with their foul actions. We will not allow a government to stand that seeks to strip rights from people, that refuses to come aid those in need as it did in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. As it did to the folks on Three Mile Island who it allowed it to be treated as expendable.A government that bails out huge companies and CEO's while leaving YOU in the dirt to feel the true pain of the economic meltdown.

I say again,REBEL!Rebel against the heartless bastards who seek to imprison you because you do not think as they want you to think.Rebel against the vile swine of bureaucracy who seek to take your tax dollars and give them to the rich instead of fixing your roads, improving your health care, educating your children. This government has failed us America and it is time to start anew.Do not let freedom become just a word, a relic of the past.Show the world that the American People are not willing to sit idly by while a tyrannical government forms.Stab the beast in the heart and show that we are willing to do whatever we must to bring true freedom back into our country.

u.s.a., rebellion, politics, freedom, tyranny
