Willow's Home

Apr 17, 2009 00:58

In "Witch," Willow talks about how Amy, in junior high, when her mom would "go on a broth kick," would come over to Willow's and they'd "stuff themselves with brownies."  Similarly, we all assume that Willow's home was -- to a degree varying by story -- Xander's sometime refuge from the problems in his home (cf. "Amends").

Willow's mom is distant and disengaged in her one episode ("Gingerbread"), and her dad is mentioned only twice in passing.  They're largely as absent and blameable as most Buffyverse parents (Fred's being the ringing exception to prove the rule).  But.  Would Amy and Xander have even made it to high school without the refuge of their house?  It is Willow who brings home her friends, but her parents allowed her to, and provided a house that may have been empty of adult supervision, but at least had a stocked refrigerator and no abuse.
