When I got home last night, I was exhausted with this cold that just won't go away, and didn't manage to do anything more constructive than eat dinner in front of an old NCIS episode on Pax and drag myself to bed.
I had never seen that NCIS episode before. It was from very early in Ziva's tenure, the one with the boy Abby dubbed a "mini-Gibbs," which I'm guessing was the earliest set of hints that Gibbs had had a daughter; that was the period when they were glorying in doling out teasing background tidbits, as opposite as can be of the more common "origin dump" paradigm. I was not surprised to see that early Ziva willing and able to coerce someone into talking in what she considers the line of duty. I was, however, surprised and disturbed to see Gibbs assigning her to do so, and neither Gibbs nor McGee reacting to the woman who begged them not to kill her after whatever Ziva did behind closed doors.
Sign of the times?
