In Highlander, is there any nugget of canon on the citizenship/immigration/visa status of the various characters in the present day, especially as they shift back and forth between Paris and Seacouver? I am particularly curious about Tessa and Duncan's standings, especially in first season. Tessa and Duncan are not legally married for immigration purposes, though their twelve years together would be recognized as a common-law marriage in some jurisdictions. Fanfiction writers seem to assume that Duncan is a US citizen, and Tessa a French citizen, but I don't seem to have any relevant canon at my fingertips. Tessa once remarks to Richie, "Have you ever thought of running for Congress?", which offers support, if any is needed, that Richie is a US citizen, but...
While subsequent moves to and from Paris and Seacouver happened with suspicious regularity, the first move to Paris, in "Band of Brothers," is a very big deal -- clearly, not something done often, if ever, though Duncan had kept the barge (which he had had years before, per "Counterfeit"). It seems in "Band of Brothers" that Tessa and Duncan had been settled in Seacouver for some years, with no thought of relocating until Tessa was suddenly offered that curator position. One way or the other, each character has some sort of visitor/resident, alien/citizen status; what is it?
