Aw --- I got an email about "breakfast with Blake" and I thought that was somehow some kind of mistake. Over a month ago I had sent in my email to compete to get a chance to meet Blake Mycoskie of TOMS Shoes for Wednesday, March 24, as part of Radford University's centennial Charter Day. I plumb forgot about it! I saw the email subject line and thought they made a mistake because he was supposed to speak at 11:00 and later on in another auditorium. Ah well. I should have read that danged email.
As it was, I wanted to also learn about the history of education, leading up to the establishment of Radford U, so I missed his talk a second time! But I did get to hear him answer a bunch of interesting questions that told more about him. He lives on a sailboat and is not big into possessions. He said the happiest people he's met outside the U. S. were those in rural areas in huts with very little who don't have much and don't know what is out there. He says the "quantity of possessions" can weigh you down.
