more re: dance class

OMG, I forgot to mention the most important thing. One woman in yesterday's ballet class wore thigh-high leg warmers. They had a strip of cloth to anchor them around the arch of the foot, but the ball and heel were left out, so I guess you can wear them over your jazz shoes. They were simply awesome and I had to restrain myself from asking her where she got them. Because, I mean, it's not like I need thigh-high leg warmers. Because it's not as if I didn't walk into the room sporting a pair of (bright and sparkly pink/purple/red) leg warmers my own self. Mine were only calf-high, however. Her pants were a lot shorter than mine. And she was a bit of a show-off, it seemed to me. She kept stretching. On the floor, on the barre... I wouldn't deny anyone their need to warm up, but it just looked rather 'I am in a DANCE class and I am wearing LEG WARMERS and I am STRETCHING because THAT is what a DANCER... DOES.' Fear of giving off that sort of impression is exactly what would keep me from wearing thigh-high leg warmers and being all Ms. Stretchtastic in a beginner/intermediate ballet fitness/tech class offered through an adult education program.

In other news, I finally got around to looking into Wilton cake decorating courses in my area. Turns out my local Michael's has one that I can't take because it would conflict with the dance class schedule for the next few weeks. So maybe I'll check the Michael's at the next town over. I also think I'll want to take a baking/pastry class before too much time passes, so I'll need to find one of those as well. Not least because it might be nice to have access to a kitchen other than my own.

In more other news, apparently Valentine's Day is coming up? Who knew. I kept seeing banner ads for V.Day stuff and wondering why folks were advertising so early. The people who are in charge of reminding me about these things have seriously fallen down on the job.
