apropos of nothing... [brownies, bands]

I have never made brownies in my life. But I was in Walgreen's the other day and I saw that pan that allows you to make "perfect brownies" every slice of which has beautiful crusty edges. And I want it.

I've never made brownies in my life. But whenever I do make brownies, I want every piece to be perfect. And what's more perfect than edginess?

(Every now and again I worry that someone's going to read my journal and think I'm trying to sell them something.)

While I am busy talking about random stuff, please do allow me to mention that I saw They Might Be Giants at the Fillmore on Friday night, and they were completely awesome. LOVE LOVE LOVE. (David got four tickets, but then we were not able to get a +2, so he sold them. And that was fine.)

After the concert, I gave David a ride to the Kinky Salon space and hung out for a while. I did not observe much in the way of kinkiness, so that was a bit of a let-down. (I've seen more live sex on the street at Folsom Fair.) But oh well. Free drinks were had. And then a free Rock Star was had and I managed to drive home without significantly endangering myself or anyone else.

And then I woke up 2.5 hours later and did a jazz show. And a fellow called in at the very end and said "Hey, I really enjoyed your set [what I heard of it]. What was that last song?" It always makes me feel a tad squirmy when people call in to say they liked a show. Because what if they decide to tune in again and I'm doing something completely different, and then they do not like it? (I don't do jazz shows all the time. But one reason to like them is that many jazz songs are so long they allow one a lot of breathing room. This is also a good reason to do electronic music shows. [By "electronic music" I mean stuff more like in the musique concrete vein, not so much with the techno.])
