Hershey's Candy Corn Kisses

I'm a fan of candy corn too so, undeterred, decided to give them a try.

Love on first taste.

Searched for reviews online and I seem to be in the minority. Someone likened the scent of an opened bag of these to eau de old person. I wonder if that's because they have a slight butterscotch flavor (according to another reviewer). I am a fan of butterscotch, and have always loved those butterscotch hard candies one tends to find in the candy dishes of old folks' homes (and the occasional Asian restaurant) so maybe I'm predisposed to liking these as well. The one I had this morning definitely made my mouth happy. So of course I grabbed four more.

Gave one to ROG when I got back upstairs. She said thanks, and then shared a story:

Once upon a time, she met a couple from southern Illinois. They were in their 60s, and came from a smallish conservative farming community. Sometime after meeting them, she remembers, the dude pulled out a bag full of salted peanuts and candy corn. Strange concept but best treat ever, apparently. So now I've got some offering ideas for my Halloween candy table (the one in my head, since I've no plans for an actual commemoration):

- Candy Corn Kisses
- Candy Corn w/ Salted Peanuts
- Caramel Popcorn Balls

Make your mouth happy, make your teeth cry.
