The request went out last week for nominations for the various all-star games (taking place this week). I got enough votes to actually be a participant this year. (Possibly there were slimmer pickings among the female players than last year.)
Tomorrow I'll be playing in the Co-Ed Clincher (16" ball No Glove). The ball is larger than regulation size, so we'll bare-hand it rather than using gloves. I'm wondering if not having to master the art of closing the glove around the ball will make my fielding less bad. But more than that I wonder what my all-star t-shirt will look like.
Tomorrow's also our department's "team-building" off-site; we'll be going bowling. So tomorrow I'll be all Super Athletic Girl. (I will also be She Who Eats Fried Cheesecake at the bowling alley.)
This is a very odd week. Yesterday evening, David came down so we hung out. This evening, I'll be attending a baseball game with the co-workers (courtesy of one of the profs, whose annual gift to the department is seats in his skybox). Tomorrow: department off-site, followed by all-star game, followed by dance class. Thursday, bellydance event in San Jose with Queen B and
winterredwood. And then Friday, potentially, Rock Band party. And then, a fellow for whom I did some editing work wants to meet and at the least pay me for past work, and (if I'm lucky) offer me more work. So, yeah, a very different sort of week. And next week begin the playoffs (because everyone makes the playoffs).
Last weekend was the first weekend in a while that I hadn't had to drive up to the city to do something related to Cousin Agby's baby (Savannah americanmiddlename nigerianmiddlename Randall). That whole 'new motherhood' vibe (or whatever energy surrounds these events) makes me nervous, so I hope the trend continues this weekend. Mom was making noise about visiting Agby last weekend (but opted agin because she didn't want to run the risk of running into Agby's mom, who is my mom's sister-in-law*), so we'll see.

* Aunt Rosette married my mom's favorite brother; they've had conflicts from the jump--let me not go into detail about the screaming match they had at my uncle's memorial service. Well maybe I will, but some other time.
