No, it's not Tuesday night, but I will not have power tomorrow night. We're looking at a week without power, yay. (I'm at a giant shopping center that has underground wires. Power companies should start going back and burying old wires, not just new ones.)

We were about to play kickball with some of the research students when the guy running the tennis camp told us we had about five minutes before we'd be hit with a category 5, 70 mph-wind storm, so we loaded the students into the car and got them to their dorms just in time. Ish. One did get wet.  On the drive home chunks of tress were just landing everywhere. It was bad enough that we would have pulled over if we'd been any further away, and almost had to less than a mile from home, but a house is safer than a car when the sky is falling. There was no other warning because the sirens were all being upgraded. We were very, very lucky that nothing bad happened on our property -- there is maybe one other house in the neighborhood that won't need a chainsaw. We have gas, so we can use the stovetop, and running water, although if we run too much of it it might start to back up because of a lift station thingie we have that I don't quite understand and am going to attempt to research now. Our basement is cool and I had the air mattress ready, so we probably won't have to head out of town, but we will need a generator before we have kids. Our whole neighborhood is humming with them. Generators, I mean, although the old guy across the street is harboring a passel of screaming grandkids.

I might get to catch up better after I do other pressing sorts of things, but for the maybe two of you who were getting accustomed to hearing from me on Tuesdays, I'm okay. Stomach still hurts, though.
