so over the weekend we had no LRP related or other activities going on... Blimey! So I used this brief freedom to start opertation Nursery. Step one of which is. Buy and erect a shed. No that does not mean I am relgating the child to live in a shed. There is a complex set of steps (Not that complex, the stuff in the outhouse goes into the new shed, the computer room is relocated to a renovated outshoue leaving the computer room empty) in order to empty our box room ready to be nurserified.
So, in order to buy the shed I first had roof bars installed on the car, then had a flat packed shed dumped on it and ratheted down and left it till Sunday to look at what I had bought. Now I was expecting 4 panels and a pack of coach bolts. I mean I've put up sheds that way countless times in locko park! However my horror came when I unloaded it from the roofrack. There wa 8 wall panels (With a hole inone for the window that needed building), 2 floor panels, 2 doors, 2 gable panels, 6 roof panels, about 30 pieces of trim and batonning in differing thickness and sizes, 2 rolls of roof felt, 17 metal fixings (Bolts, Hinges etc) and around 500 nails and screws of various varieties.
With Allen Stroud and
float_vagabond on hand we did the prep work for it on Sunday, which involved excavating a plot ofr it, then framing it and building it up with a mixture of breezeblocks, housebricks and crushed limestone as a topping. We connected the panels and floor sections into 3 walls and a floor (Not the front wall) and left it under a tarp for the night.
Then yesterday i had a fit of enthusiasm after I got in from work and seemed to tear through the job. Before I knew it I had the walls up, the roof up, the roof clad, the window hung, the doors hung. All thats left now is a few bits of trim and the roof felt. It felt eerily like LT setup, especially as I did most of it under the illumination of a 500 watt halogen security light in my Back Garden.
So tonight, I start phase 2 of project nursery. The outhouse will be emptied into the shed and I am expecting some builders to come and quote for making the outhouse into a livable space to put the computer room into.
