Why is this so wrong?

Some of you are in game purists so might well disagree with me on this, so please tell me why!

This year, Irish games charity Auctions won the Dianajones award (http://www.dianajonesaward.org/) and a post was put on Rule 7 about this, so I followed up with an explanation of this and to give some context of the mind numbing generosity of the gamers at these auctions gave to examples UK LRP'ers will understand in a custom latex shield and the fact the the LT put in tickets every year and on occasions added a magic sword lammy for the person who won the tickets. The LT tickets have in the past raised in the region of £800 (Yes for tickets to all 4 LT events and on occasion a magic sword). I am now getting slated by a small minority because of the inclusion of the sword? It's for charity, and it a &^%$ of a lot for charity. The thread is here (http://forums.rule7.co.uk/Topic12823-29-1.aspx) so you can read what i'm getting over this as some of it is derogatory to the people who bid ludicrous money for these things.
