Well, here I am updating at work. It’s ok though cause I can’t really do anything else at the moment. I’m importing 20,000 records in a database and can’t do anything with them until the import is done. I have a feeling it’s going to take a longgggggggg time.
Anyway, Sam is out of the apartment and I have officially taken over. I love it so much more now...I feel like for the first time I really feel at home in my apartment. My stuff is now in the larger room, I now have a bathroom connecting to my room (so cool) and the guest bedroom is all set up for guests. Emily’s Hotel Service has been busy, as usual, and the room is getting used to its fullest potential. Though it is wonderful to have an apartment all to myself, it is a bit weird. This is the first time I’ve ever really lived alone. I mean even when I lived at Adams there were still people around me all the time that I could go and bug (e.x. Mitzy Lee ;-)) I swear last night I was totally hearing noises as I was trying to fall asleep. Every noise from another apartment sounds like it’s in yours and that someone is breaking in. haha. Oh well, I’m not too worried about it.
Charter came yesterday to fix the internet. I’m hoping the internet will work now! :-/ I have to say, though, that my hopes aren't too high. Also, Shannonz stopped by last night to admire my new set up. She, too, agreed that it was better. And then after such a busy day, I got to spend lots of time talking to K-dog in Boston. Plans are still fishy, but I’m thinking B$ and I are still leaving for Boston the 20th. I love Boston. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
Oh, and btw, if you like pies, I found the best place to get them. It’s called lmno pies. It’s over on McKee Rd near Star Cinema. They make 300 different kinds of pies. Meat pies, breakfast pies, fruit pies, pasties, and quiches. I went on an adventure with Barbie yesterday and was greatly pleased with my find. They even have a corned beef hash pie with corned beef hash, eggs and hashbrowns. As Shannon said, they should call it Emily pie. “Dog food” in pie form. YUM.
Today I got to go to the Capitol for the Stem Cell presentation. It was super interesting, very cool. Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t major in Zoology or something like that. Medical things really interest me. I think it’s mostly cause I didn’t want to go to med school. 7 more years of school, are you kidding me?!? Not only that, but it’s super intense. That’s something only for people like J.Jay. You get so engrossed in your studies that when you talk to people on the phone you begin telling them about the 500 different drugs that you’re learning about ;-) Back to the presentation, it was super cool. The only people I recognized were Sen. Fred Risser and Rep. Sheldon Wasserman. There were some other reps there, people from the University and other foundations. I guess the man giving the presentation hasn’t done one for the legislator in about 5 or 6 years, so that’s pretty cool that we were able to go.
I’m getting ready to leave for DC on Thursday. My weekend is already semi planned. My bday dinner with Jenny is going to be at Oceanaire. If I didn’t post my love for this restaurant the last time I was in DC, I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about how amazingly wonderful this restaurant is. I find it a very fitting restaurant to go to. The only bad thing is that we're going to the restaurant Friday night which means we can't go to happy hour with BLS people. Though I’m sad about missing it, I think my sister is very happy...then she doesn't have to deal with me TOTALLY drunk talking to guys who can only say "you're beautiful and you're from wisconsin." Um.....there were some definite tools there..haha.
Aight, time to rock and roll. Latah
