It says a lot about how I deal with change that even something that has nothing to do with me-- aka the announcement that the Sabres fired longtime coach Lindy Ruff-- gets my heart pounding in panic. I feel loyalty to things that can't love me back-- I shudder to think of being a student or alum at Bona's when the basketball scandal was going on

I covered the Sabres the year Ruff was a rookie. Player. Not rookie coach.

I've developed a hatred of sorts for the Sabres, but the Lindy situation bothered me, too. The guy deserved better. And, as much as I can't stand Sabres fans sometimes, I feel for you.
