It says a lot about how I deal with change that even something that has nothing to do with me-- aka the announcement that the Sabres fired longtime coach Lindy Ruff-- gets my heart pounding in panic. I feel loyalty to things that can't love me back-- I shudder to think of being a student or alum at Bona's when the basketball scandal was going on.

I love hockey, I love the Sabres and I especially love what hockey has meant for Western New York, my friends and my family over the years. He is a great Buffalonian, and he's been the coach for as long as I've been seriously watching hockey. He just as much a part of the team as the players, and I'm sad and already nostalgic to see him go. It's probably overdue, but I think it was very unceremoniously done.
