Pairing: Twins - not really slashy
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Mine? Unfortunately anything but.
Summary: There's a story behind the songs.
Author's Notes: "Dedications" is a series of one-shots, each based on a Tokio Hotel song. Little stories that popped up in my mind when listening to the songs. This is the first one, I wrote ages ago, I guess it's the second thing I ever wrote. The parts are not attached to each other, and I'll update this series randomly.
This story is probably as un-slashy as I can get, so who better to have it dedicated to than
peki <3
EDIT// The lovely
steinsgrrl beta'd this, and now there's a better version to be found under the cut :)
Bill wrote Gegen meinen Willen when he and Tom had seen a little child crying, louder than her fighting parents, in the corner shop.
The girl could not have been more than three years old. She had brown pigtails and toy bracelets, with snot on her face and a heartbreaking crying coming from her disgruntled lips. Her parents were fighting and throwing groceries into the carriage, when it really looked like they wanted to be somewhere else. Her father looked like all he wanted was to be banging a bombshell secretary, and her mother looked like she just wanted to be a kid on her mum's lap again. As people tend to do, no one spared a look for the trio, and especially not for the little girl stumbling after her parents. No one noticed that the little girl was left behind while her parents continued their aggressive walk to the other part of the store, finally disappearing from the little one's sight.
No one but Bill and Tom, that is, who had been staring at the family throw-down. Talk about a déjà vu.
When the little girl realized she didn’t see her parents anymore, the already heartbreaking wailing grew even louder.
Tom took a step, with Bill following closely.
“Hey little one, did you lose your mummy and daddy?” Tom used his most child-friendly tone.
The girl’s crying was turning into sobbing, and she nodded quietly, rubbing her nose.
“I think they went this way. Can we go and find them together?” Bill suggested with a small smile, using his softest voice that he saved for little children - and sometimes for pillow talk with Tom.
The girl nodded again and grabbed Bill and Tom’s outstretched hands. The three of them headed to where her parents had gone.
A storm was brewing in Bill's mind. He felt Tom glance at him sideways, but Bill refused to look back. Sometimes there were moments when he didn't want to see Tom looking straight through him, looking worried of what Bill might do. This was one of those moments, Bill felt completely furious for the little girl.
He was spotting items on the shelves that he could throw towards the parents, to get their attention and teach them a lesson. Bill cancelled his training plans when Tom spoke, no louder than a whisper.
“Bill. Let me.”
Bill finally looked at his brother, who was staring back intensely. That they hardly needed words was a reality and not just make believe that they played with in front of the cameras. Bill listened to what Tom was saying with his eyes, and then looked at the little girl holding Tom’s hand tightly. She'd probably had enough drama for one shopping trip. She'd probably had enough drama to last a better part of a lifetime, coming to think of it.
Bill sighed. “Ok.”
They spotted the parents on in the hygiene department. Tom tapped on the mum’s hunched back.
“You forgot something.”
The mum turned around, flabbergasted, and spotted her child. She looked like she was about to tell her daughter off but thought better of it, as the girl was still gripping Tom’s hand. Shockingly, the girl made no move to go to her parents.
As Bill was scalping the mum in his mind, Tom kneeled beside the little girl and softly whispered to her: “It’s okay to go now, they will stop yelling.” He made sure the parents heard him, too.
Bill shot a glance like a dagger at the parents to make sure they also understood it.
The girl hesitated but then went to her mum.
“Have some shame, that‘s your child”, Tom said in a cold voice, and nudged Bill who was still staring daggers, before taking him by the hand and going to the till.
Once they had packed the car with their shopping, Tom finally felt like he could talk to Bill without either of them feeling too sore from memories. What had just happened at the store had brought back too many clear visions from their childhood. Memories of pretending to not hear the shouting during nights, memories of staying outside too late because they didn't want to go home, memories of how Simone had failed to hide her tears.
“Hey. You okay?”
Bill sighed and gave Tom a look that was supposed to be a short one but got locked in his eyes.
“I’m so happy I always had you”, he whispered and hugged his hero of a big brother.
