Fic/Commenting Question Meme

Snagged from frozen_delight

There's 50 questions below the cut, feel free to pick a number (or 2 or 3) and prepare for the resultant word vomit. If there's one thing I love, it's talking about fic, commenting, favourite authors, reccing and all of those good things. So ask away

I'll strike out the questions and cut and paste the answers into the text of the post as well as in the comments

1. What fandom(s) do you read?

2. If you could request more of a certain type of fic, which would it be?
This is going to be the most self indulgent answer ever, but speaking of trope/plotwise, I would adore it if there was more soulless Sam and demon Dean fic, or more post-apocalyptic AUs! I just have a real fondness for all those things. Kinkwise, if there was more explicit switching, it would be amazing.

3. What is your favorite all-time fic?
4.Do you ever re-read fics? How about triple-read?
5. Do you prefer angst or fluff?
6. Do you prefer long fics or short fics?
7. Name some incomplete fics that you wish were completed.
8. Talk about the ships that you read.
9. Do you read smut?

10. What’s the most hard-core smut or kinky fic you’ve ever read (be honest)!
I don't think I could name it, simply because I don't remember! I wouldn't call it hardcore in terms of content, but I suppose Cool by checkthemargins and the West series by runawaydreamer have the highest ratio of smut to fic (I highly recommend them both). However, I'm really difficult to squick so I've read a lot of things that've been linked with the title "OMG" - Greatest Hits of the spn-kinkmeme

11. Do you read AUs?
12. List a few of your favorite AUs.

13. What type of AUs are your favorites? Give a general description.
I like action type AUs, even though there doesn't have to be action. Ones where there's a dynamic of change and opposition, whichever way that materalises. I also really adore AUs where it's clear that either the author has done their research or they've lived what they're describing, so you get that incredibly rich detail and developed feel to the world.

14. What makes you give up on reading a fic?
I've got very good at sorting fic that I want to read via summary, tags, author's name, length, so I backbutton out of surprisingly little fic. Woobiefication, the dynamic of blaming one character for things that they didn't do, untagged D/s has me backclicking fast - that's probably the one that does it the most. Occasionally boredom will do it, or feeling sure that I'm seeing a different canon to the one the author is.

15. What makes you pick up a fic, what makes it sound interesting?
16. Name a fic that made you cry (or that made you come close).
17. Name a fic that made you laugh a lot.
18. Do you have a fic recommendation page or master list?
19. How many fics do you think you’ve read before?
20. What’s the weirdest fic you’ve ever read? Describe it.
21. Do you read crack!fic?
22. Name a few of your favorite crack!fics.
23. Has fluff ever made you cry? What about angst?
24. What’s the longest fic you’ve ever read?
25. What’s your opinion on reading dubious consent or no consent?
26. Name a type of fic you’ll never ever read.

27. Name a type of fic that you wish there was more of.
This one varies by fandom - for SPN, I would love there to be more fic about the connections between the different worlds of the canon - playing with concepts of purgatory/redemption, or which picked out the thread of epicness and developed that (viewing the canon through an epic tragedy lens and relating it to extant ones). For my small book fandoms (like The Charioteer) my wants are exactly the opposite - I'd like even more of the fics that deal with the tiniest, the most mundane of incidences, blown up to provide a portrait of the most minute moments of daily life, and all the awfulness contained within it (has to be awful). Alternatively, I'd like fics that used a kink to say something about the character involved with it.

28. Who are your favorite fanfiction author(s)?
I really can't pick. On my flist alone, ten spring to mind, also I have a pretty terrible memory. The following is more a sample of what attracts me to an author, I guess there's clear common threads. In essence, I tend to like writers that provide what I lack, a counterbalancing of the things I find hard and they do well. Names that spring to mind: tryfanstone, Naraht, Dorinda, Morgan, road_rhythm.

29. When you find an author you like, do you follow them?
30. How often do you read fanfiction?
31. Do people know that you read fanfiction?
32. Do you leave reviews after reading fics? If so, what do they sound like?
33. When you read a good fic, do you go to the author’s page?
34. Name a common type of fic that you cannot stand.
Mundane AUs for canons that aren't mundane. I have no clue why anyone would want to strip what makes a canon interesting from it.
35. Name all the Work in Progress fics that you are currently reading.
36. Has a fic ever left you unable to fall asleep or think about anything else?
37. Are you good about keeping up when reading Work in Progresses?
38. Name some of your favorite fic recommendations pages.
39. Name a fanfiction author that you’re scared to talk to because they’re so amazing.
40. Have you ever written fanfiction or considered it?
41. Name a fic that has a perfect ending.
42. Name a fic that you wish was longer.
43. Do you read OT3 fics commonly? Have you ever?
44. Do you mainly read TV shows, movies, or books?
45. Do you read fanfiction about Anime?
46. If you could imagine the perfect fic, what would it be like?

47. If you had to introduce someone to fanfiction with a few fics, which would you suggest?
Ooh interesting one! I'd find it so difficult to introduce someone to fic like that, because there's so much of it. I'd probably stop off reaaallly gen, with fic that resonated with me on an emotional level or with a humorous fic - things like

Very Superstitious by novembersmith which is amazing Generation Kill gen
Once Upon A Time In The North (which although it's RPF, is very close to the sort of humour you find in newspapers etc - Private Eye would absolutely run it as a serial)
The Grocery Store Conveyor Belt Thing by scioscribe (SPN humour gen, so funny)

48. Have you ever read a fic containing character death?
49. Do you have an AO3/Fanfiction.net/LiveJournal page? Link it.
50. What sites do you typically use to read on?
