Relaxing weekend

Friday: was very efficient and got so much work done. Followed the stupid balloon boy story on Metafilter so I could keep up with the latest jokes. In the evening we had drinks at Aiden's place to celebrate her birthday.

Saturday: went to King's Park with Mum's walking club to look at the spring wildflowers. Really lovely, wish I'd brought the camera along. Breakfast at the Botanical Cafe, meh.

Spent the rest of the day mooching around and doing nothing, on purpose. It was lovely! Watched X-Men 3 on dvd that night, very disappointing. Not that I expected much from the third movie in a superhero series, but it was so poorly written and the female characters were so passive. I wish they'd focused more on Mystique and Magneto, at least they *enjoy* being powerful instead of angsting about it all day.

Sunday: breakfast at Toast in East Perth, yum yum! Grocery shopping in the city, where we decided that the self-checkout really only works for packaged goods, and is a pain in the arse for fruit'n'veg.

Started reading The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon, on Wendy's recommendation. Enjoying it so far. Am putting off reading another Kazuo Ishiguro book, since I suspect it'll require more mental energy than I have to give right now.

Oh, and I made jelly! Yum.
