The universe is shaped exactly like the earth...

Winter break was far too short. Not that I mind being back in A2, but I actually have to start reading academic books again?! Bolderdash. I started reading "On the Road" and "The Dharma Bums" over break (one at home, and the other in Chicago because I forgot to bring "On the Road" with me) and am itching to finish them. I'm halfway done with each- I'm gonna finish "On the Road" first because it takes place earlier in Kerouac's life. I need to do it soon before I get bogged down with school work, though. Ah, U of M...

Christmas was a lovely little time. On the actual holiday I just hung out with my parents and saw "The Family Stone" with my mom. Then we snuck into "Fun With Dick and Jane" while we were waiting for my dad to get out of his movie. My mom is not smooth at all, but we managed to get by security anyhow. Two days later I got to see my aunt and uncle Cooney, and my cousin Em and aunt Kathy, so that was nice. And of course, the food was nice. They made me cut and inch off of my hair though. I wasn't going to cave in, but Emily usually gives me pretty solid advice and she voted for the inch to go. Hopefully it grows out...maybe even longer this time.

On the 28th I ventured down to Chi-town with about nine other people. It was so much fun! I've never really spent time in a big city before, and we got to do all of those big-city type things like ride the L, go to vintage shops and tatoo parlours and diners and bars and lakeshores and such. On new year's eve, we all went to see Umphrey's McGee and Keller Williams at the Aragon Ballroom and it was one of the best shows of my life. Umphrey's played THREE fantastic electric energetic out of this world sets. Midnight was awesome, all these balloons came spilling from the ceilings and there was confetti everywhere. It was probably the best New Years eve I've ever had. I hope I can locate a recording of the show somewhere...

I only had two days at home after I got back, so I tried to see everyone before going back up to school. It's been pretty low key so far, except I had to work the first two nights back, which kinda sucked. Anyone wanna give me a job? Noodles is starting to blow. Phil and Becky came down last night for Turbo Cranium night, and it was a pretty sweet time. Real school starts on Monday and the only thing I find myself looking forward to is the summer.
