1. My newly-refinished dining room table has finally made it home! Clearly, it is now time to devise a dinner party. A small dinner party, I note, since the table will comfortably hold four. :) There's no saying there can't be more than one party, however. :) I note that this is the first actual wood dining table I've ever owned. Even the table we had in the old marital estate was a folding table. This table, OTOH, is a solid oak folding leaf table with turned legs--very sexy furniture indeed! And so, a new era begins.
2. I managed to gouge my left ring and pinky fingers right before I left my mom's, while helping her twist the cap off of one of her pool filters. I was the only one who was able to move it at all, so apparently, it bit me in protest. Ow.
3. My nice SIL from CO called me tonight, which was really pleasant. I believe she was returning my call from two weeks ago, which is why we don't talk more often. However, it was really great to catch up.
4. David Mom-Spouse did me a very good turn this afternoon--he gave me a piece of 2x3 that's about 7 ft. long to replace the beat-up, worn-out age-twisted now-giving-me-splinters 8 ft. long 2x4 I'd been using since about 2001. The ostensible reason was so that I could fit both it and my table into my car, but he let me select the wood and then sanded all of the edges for me, too, which was definitely above and beyond, but very appreciated. I note that my weaving looks much prettier on a nice piece of wood! Also, it seems to weigh about half as much. Thanks, David!
5. I successfully managed not to go shopping with Mom anywhere other than the farm stand, where I bought some seriously awesome fruits + veggies. This was good, since a) I'm trying to save $ for vacation, and b) my fridge was a vast echoing cavern.
6. I'd like to weave for a while, but since my entire hand feels beaten up, I think my best plan will be to read a book.
7. And speaking of books, I'm seriously considering revamping my bookcase setup after vacation. Specifically, I am thinking of getting rid of the majority of my current bookshelves and getting some of the ones at Ikea that I can build high. I've wanted to do this for a while, but the thing that's really driving it now is the realization that I have nowhere to put my new table when it's not in use. So, free bookshelves may be available here soon. FYI.
