Phoebe is officially home safe, only slightly dented and mildly grumpy. She celebrated her return in a rather unexpected way, by purposefully snuggling up with Dori in the white chair. I'm not sure I've ever seen her do that before.
I was amused when the vet told me that despite her lack of teeth, she's still got a pretty good right hook (claws extended, always). I'd warned her of this, but she apparently didn't listen until the point in time when she got swiped. Ah, well. She can't say she wasn't warned! They had to sedate her to do the testing, she was that rambunctious. I'm not surprised. While they had her under, they took a blood sample so that they could do some bloodwork on her--basic senior cat health screening stuff.
The verdict is that K and Phoebe have nothing wrong with them. The vet felt there was no need to bring Dori in at this time, and that based on the lack of findings with the other two, the issue must be behavioral in nature. I'm not at all surprised to hear this, since it's what I expected, but I'm glad to have ruled out the organic stuff all the same. The vet suggested that after I saturate the hell out of the carpet with the Nature's Miracle I have, I block off the corner they've been using with a piece of furniture so they physically can't get to the spot anymore. That will give the Nature's Miracle time to do its job completely. So, I'll be implementing this plan starting tomorrow as part of my Regular Sunday Cleaning-Fest(TM). Also, jam and possibly some chili or another crockpot dish I can freeze for next week.
I am reminded that Hellmann's Mayonnaise is the One True Mayonnaise and this crap I bought from Trader Joe's has gotta go. As does the remainder of the chicken salad I made with it, which is the pinnacle of anti-nom. Ah, well...tomorrow is also "toss the perishables before my trip" day, and I won't be sorry to see it go.
Today, apparently, is National Relaxation Day. I wonder--is this a mobile day that always lands on a weekend, or does it sometimes land in the middle of the week when it's of no use to anyone? I could probably find out on Wikipedia or something, but I'm too relaxed to care.
In other news, I've finally delved into Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik and must report that I'd forgotten what an easy-to-read author she is, and how well-paced her storylines are. The bulk of my National Relaxation Day has been spent on turning pages.
