Re-watched Girl With the Dragon Tattoo last night. Ahhhhhh, it's so good. The acting, the tension, the pacing - fantastic. I really need to see the next two. (And get around to reading the first two books, since I own them. They're just so long that I get intimidated. This summer ( Read more... )

The first movie is like two and half hours and apparently the next two are just a little shorter. I'm really impressed with the first one. ...maybe don't watch it right before you go to bed due to super disturbing content. (Non-sensationalized and brutally realistic which means I don't find it offensive but yeah.)

The books look so long to me. But then I want to read them? But. Commitment!! Sob.

I will definitely keep that in mind.

I want to read them! But I also need to finish rereading Lord of the Rings for class, and I simply have no time.

Man, I tried to read LoTR during the movies craze but I ended up giving up 100 pages in, when they were walking through the field after just having left the shire. My dad never finished them either. WHY SO DESCRIPTIVE, TOLKIEN?! My brother, by contrast, got through them without issue.

At least you've read them before? I guess? Good luck!

Ah, you didn't even make it to Tom Bombadil. That's usually the point where people ragequit because he's so pointless. (I love Tom Bombadil, but seriously.)

I have, but I like approximately everything else that Tolkien wrote more than LotR. Sob, my life.

My lack of patience. :( Maybe I will try again someday.

I really like The Hobbit, but it's definitely an entirely different ball game than LoTR.

If, like my friend, you are reading for the Arwen/Aragorn, it is all in Appendix A on RotK. TBH, all the things that interest me most are in the Appendices.

The Hobbit is my favourite too, followed closely by the Silmarillion. But those are not very like LotR, no.
