I met a canadian born chinese girl in church a few weeks ago. she is studying cross cultural religion in canada and she is here for internship for a few months. i asked her why she wanted to major in this. her response, because she loves to travel, meet people and God. pretty good fit ain't it? I told her that i am not that religious, and she didn't start preaching, so I thought, maybe we could be friends.
she moved to arcadia to intern at the church around there. since it's close by, so I asked her out for lunch in pasadena. we had lunch at this cute shop, cafe verde. we didn't discuss anything related to the bible, except she asked me if she could pray for the both of us before eating food. in the middle of our conversation, we heard a bang, a car accident just happened at the intersection. the funny thing is the two cars bumped right in front of a police car. the good news is this saved their time to inform the police. she asked me what is there to do in LA. you know I ask myself the same thing. besides the theme parks, museums, shopping malls, the bars, eating out, there really isn't much left. I suppose going hiking is considered healthy and cheap fun.
i told my co-worker about her, and he actually wanted to meet her. he thinks that people who study in divinity schools are unique. I really don't see how they are different from the rest of us. she seems pretty normal to me, nothing out of the ordinary, except the fact that she goes to church every sunday and prays before her meals. if that were the case, aren't mortuary make up artists rather special?
