Isn't this supposed to be a research library?

WTF! So the microfilm of my last manuscript fragment finally arrived and I got the nice little e-mail from the library system a mere 7 minutes before I had to leave to get Birdy. Ok, me thinks, I'll go take a look tomorrow. So I get here, and I get my pretty little blue paper wrapped box, and I go up to the fourth floor of the library... there are 5 microfilm machines. Cool. One is occupied by someone making scans for interlibrary loan. Ok. One is out of order. Ok. One only makes copies and I need scans. Ok. So I sit down at another one... its zoom function doesn't work at all. Great, ok... there's one more... so I go sit down at it, get my microfilm all loaded up, its zoom function works, but only in the IN direction, and since my film is of a manuscript its quite large and I need to zoom OUT, but I can't past a certain point. So now I'm waiting. I'm a student at the largest University in my state and I can't even read a microfilm that I had to have shipped in from Stanford, because someone else somewhere else wants some copies of newspaper clippings. Oh, and I'm supposed to have my document finished today, yeah, right!

libraries, school, thesis, manuscripts, frustration
