So, today while analyzing a song, I plugged it's title into google, and found a paper describing a PhD. dissertation that did exactly what I was supposed to do with my thesis. F**K! This sent me straight into panic attack, well, that and the fact that the guy had also discovered another fragment, to make a total of 10 from the original 7 I set out to study. So, I eventually called my guiding prof.. and we settled on a plan. Instead of trying to make another attempt at that 591 page project (really, that's how long his was!) I'm just going to focus on the works that only appear in the fragments and were not recorded any where else. My justification is that the music was somehow more important to Padua, either being sacred and used within the priory the manuscripts were kept in, or about local events that needed recording. I'm hoping this last minute change will fly. I'll probably need to rewrite my introduction and make anther small section in the conclusion to gloss over the other songs, but it also decreases my work load, and therefor my stress level. Anything that decreases my stress level at this point is a good thing in my book... even if it started out as a panic attack!
