People Still Generally Suck.

From an email sent to my old friend. Jenn:

I am realizing that I don't really know how to be alone.

I have spent the day doing nothing but sitting in front of the computer - reading journals, reading blogs, listening to music, and accomplishing nothing of importance.  Thankfully, Steve made it to Boston without incident, though he 'did' have to wait ( Read more... )

What brought me to London

Honestly? Hastily decided whim. LOL! I was finalizing my divorce (we filed it all our selves so it took a while to afford all of the stages) and was completely demoralized at my Toronto Law Firm Job. My new husband is awesome and supportive so when the TLFJ was making me more stressed and sick and the Ex was being enough of a douche to be nicknamed The Troll, I sold my house privately, quit my job and decided on London as my new starting point. The logical reasons were: i) it's closer to his family; ii) we both have friends in London (read we each have 1 couple we know there); iii) it was a big enough city to have law firm jobs; and iv) while it has a University, the University does not define the city or how it's used.

What do I do in my spare time
Currently, go over to my friends' house, watch tv, eat dinner, drink beer, hot tub and play video games. When I have time, I'm an amateur photographer trying to be a pro. And other than that I read a metric ton. :) Oh, and I like to cook but it sucks cooking for one person.

I will also be restarting my bellydance classes as I still need to exercise more than I do currently and it was hella fun. I'm also still at the stage of exploring London and the surrounding area so I guess driving around aimlessly looking for cool things is something I also do currently. :)

Interesting!

Do you ever miss Toronto?

I miss Toronto at the oddest times - like 2am when I want something other than pizza delivered because I'm up late.. Or when I want some really fiiiine roti. Occasionallyl I miss the ease of transit and events, but not often. London's got way more green space and outdoor things to do (or at least they're easier to find). No one is really crammed in anywhere which can feel like it happens in Toronto. It's like London is more Kensington Market but with an upscale look. :)

*Nods*

Truth be told, I haven't really 'lived' in Toronto for 9 years, so I don't really know how much I would love being back there. I do know, however, that I miss the shopping.

Where in London are you? I'm in the North end.

I'm told I live in Old South on the east side but not in the "crack & ho" neighbourhood. :) I live behind Victoria Hospital.

Eh, depends on what you're shopping for in London. For instance, I'm plus sized so I'm screwed any which way in Canada - so I make runs over the border to Port Huron. :)

Food (meat, produce, herbs, teas) are all easy to find and reasonable locally (Heritage Line Herbs, McSmith Organic Farm, Oegema's Turkey, Thomas Brothers Produce).

Reitos de Leitos (sp?) is awesome. There's a Nova Era near the Western Fairgrounds (Mmm.. Portuguese Custard Tarts).

Yeah I'm pretty alright with the food shopping (thus far).

Now I'm hungry! ;)

It's not all that far to Nova Era. :) hehehe..

We could, if you'd like, meet for coffee/tea/something this weekend.

I can't this weekend.

I'm hiding out in Toronto at my in-laws (YAY!) to avoid a street party that's going on in my neighborhood (yes, hi, I am antisocial). But I have my reasons, also. Trust me. :)

heh.. No worries. I promise I'll be from some other time too!

LOL! I don't blame you for the street party thing though.. I'd hide. Especially if it was supposed to require my participation.

Seriously. We live on a very small street (think 9 'homes') which are all under the same "condo association". I still don't quite understand (we are renting). Anyway, they are having this street party and we don't want to go because A) we are the youngest of the bunch, B) we don't really want to get to know these people as we are not sticking around past next August when our lease expires, and, C) we don't like our immediate neighbours.

Also? Our TERRIBLE landlord(s) are going. BLEH NO THANK YOU!

So we told the organizer (condo president?!) that Steve had a work engagement in Toronto and that we were unable to attend.

SHH.

LOL! If only we'd met a week ago, you could have hid out at my place all weekend. hehe..

That blows. My townhouse isn't bad and seems to be run by a nice company and people. My neighbours are mostly decent (one guy is a jerk but that's it)
