2010 In The Beginning......

Where did you ring in the New Year? At home, in my parents' living room.
Who were you with? My sister.
Did you kiss anyone at midnight? No. I was with my sister.
Did you make any resolutions? As a matter of fact, yes, I did.
If so did you keep them? I did all right with looking into music and got into writing about it more. The rest of it didn't go over so well. I've been feeling pretty uninspired lately, so writing and my other creative endeavors that I resolved to make an effort to work on kind of went out the window.

2010 Your Love Life....

Single/Taken? Single.
How many relationships did you have? None.
How many break ups? Zero. I suppose that's the beauty of being single. ;)
How many people did you kiss? I think you missed the part where I said I was single.

2010 Friends and Enemies......

Did you meet any new friends this year? Not really. Last year was a better year for that.
Did any of your friendships end? No, but I do have a feeling at least one might be ending.
Did you dislike anyone? I think it's inevitable we'll meet people we don't like. I'd rather not talk about this one, though.
Did you get into any fights? No. I try to stay out of them. In the first place, I'd lose if it was physical, and I try to avoid confrontation in general.
Did you make any new enemies? Enemies? No.
Did you resolve any fights? I didn't have any in the first place.
Who was your closest friend? In RL? Probably my mom. If you're talking LJ, likely holly_hox_1985 since we're the only two people I know who can carry on several month long conversations via comments.

2010....The Holidays!

Did you have a Valentine? No.
Did the Easter bunny visit you? Yes. Gotta love the chocolates.
Did watch fireworks on the 4th of July? Actually, yes, I did.
Did you dress up for Halloween? No. I'm too old for trick or treating, and I didn't go to any parties this year.
What did you do for Thanksgiving? My mom's side of the family all got together at my uncle's house for dinner. I got to hang out with my cousins, who are all a lot younger than I am, but the youngest is absolutely adorable, and she got kind of attached to me.
Did you make a list of gifts for the holidays? Um, no, and people haven't let me forget that.
Did you receive what you wanted? I didn't ask for anything, but what I did get was nice.
Were you good this holiday season? I'd like to think so.

2010 Your BIRTHDAY!!!

How old did you turn? 23.
Did you have a cake? Yes. Chocolate, of course. ^_^
What did you do for your birthday? I didn't do too much. I had my internship, so that's how I spent most of the day, and then I spent the rest at home because I was quite tired.
Did you have a party? Not really. It was just my family.
Did you get any presents? Yes. Some money since I needed it and a nice watch.

2010......The Memories and Accomplishments!

Funniest Memory? One poetry day in particular sticks out in my mind.
Saddest Memory? Probably when my mom told me about my grandmother not knowing who my brother was.
Most Embarassing Memory? I work with teenagers. I've had a few embarrassing memories. XD
Best Accomplishment? Graduated from college.

2010.....FAVORITES!

Favorite TV shows? Glee, American Idol, Big Bang Theory
Favorite songs? "Superman Tonight" by Bon Jovi, "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars, "King of Wishful Thinking" by New Found Glory (I know this cover is three years old, but I played it a lot), "Love's the Only Rule" by Bon Jovi, "Cooler Than Me" by Mike Posner, "Hummingbird Heartbeat" by Katy Perry, "Stomping the Roses" by David Archuleta, "Grenade" by Bruno Mars, "Hollywood" by Michael Bublé, "Sweet Serendipity" by Lee DeWyze, "No Apologies" by Bon Jovi, "Teenage Dream" by the Glee Cast, "Raise Your Glass" by Pink, "Stay Here" by Lee DeWyze, "Me and My Jealousy" by Lee DeWyze, "Spotlight" by Patrick Stump (both versions got played a lot), "Broken Record" by the Plain White T's, "SING" by My Chemical Romance, "Vessels" by Butch Walker (this is another one that was released a couple years ago, but I did play a lot this year), "Wish List" by Neon Trees. By the way, I sort of condensed that list. XD
Favorite bands? Bon Jovi (did you have to ask?), Plain White T's, Mike Posner, Lee DeWyze, Bruno Mars (why is there never a space just for single musicians?).
Favorite food? Uh, chocolate? Seriously, things like tacos are starting to make my stomach turn more and more, so it loses its status, sadly.
Favorite stores? Target, as usual.
Favorite restaurants? I guess Applebees. I didn't go out much this year since I was pretty broke.
Favorite piece of clothing? My Bon Jovi lyric scarf. I haven't worn it much, but it should keep for a while. But it ties with my fall military jacket. I love them both so much.

2010.....All about YOU....

Did you change at all this year? I think I grew up a little bit. I feel like I finally made that progression from being a kid to an adult.
Did you dye your hair? As a matter of fact, my hair is red right now. I'll likely be a brunette again by the end of January, but it's fun while it lasts.
Did you get your hair cut? No. My hair is really long at this point as a result. I've been thinking about donating it.
Did you change your style? Not too much. In terms of professional attire, no. When it comes to fall/winter, I'm moving away from the college staple that is hoodies and onto the nicer looking sweaters and cardigans. I started doing this the past couple of years, but I think I've got better fasion sense now, and I can afford to expand my wardrobe a little more.
Were you in school? For the first half of the year, yes, I was finishing an internship. Then I graduated in May. :D
Did you have a job? I got one the last quarter of the year.
Did you drive? Not this year. Long story.
Did you own a car? For a little while, but that's another long story.
Did you lose anyone this year? No, I was fortunate in that.
Did anyone close to you give birth? No.
Did you move at all? Nope, I stayed where I was.
Did you go on any vacations? My family went to the cottage like we do every summer.
Did you leave the country at all? No.
Would you change anything about yourself now? At this point, I don't think so. I am a bit shy, but I don't know if I want that to change too much.

2010.....Wrap Up.

Was 2010 a good year? With some things, yes. With others, no.
Do you have any regrets? I try to avoid them, but I might have one or two this year.
Did 2010 bring any new insights? I think with the growing up I did realize how I could be happy and some things I need to do in order to meet new people.
Do you think 2011 will top 2010? With the way I'm looking forward to the new year, I'm hoping it will. Whether or not it actually does remains to be seen.
Do you have any goals for 2011? I've made a few resolutions, mostly things like reading and writing more and generally trying to make myself healthier. Also a few things about meeting new people and not letting others bother me as much. I think those are the most important.
If you could relive any moment which would you choose? There was a day earlier in the year when my friends and I laughed over ridiculous things the way we used to.
If you could forget any moment what would it be? I'd like to keep that one to myself, actually.
Do you wish 2010 wouldn't end? I have an attachment to 2010 even if it wasn't the greatest year. I think I mostly like the number. XD I guess by now I've given in to the fact that every year changes to the next whether I like it or not.
Do you plan to do anything special for NYE 2010? Same thing I do every year, I guess.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Um, made money in my chosen profession even if I don't have a full time job yet, I guess that one works.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Like I said above, I wasn't too great at keeping my resolutions. I did all right, but I definitely could have done better. I did make more for next year because I think having goals and writing them down in some way does make it more likely that I will improve in the areas I want.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Like I said above, no.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Once again, I was fortunate not to lose someone this year.

5. What countries did you visit?
None. I need a little more money before I visit anywhere out of the country.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Honestly? A good friend that lives close enough to me to hang out with.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Which date? I'm going to go with May 1, 2010 since that was the day I graduated. It's hard to forget something like that.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating college and getting my English degree. It also meant I finished my internship, and I can officially find a job.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Why so negative? I don't think I failed at anything this year, to be quite honest. Maybe that I didn't finish the massive stack of books I had.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
My allergies might have bothered me, but I don't think I got sick this year. Hmm.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My camera, I think. I have actually used it since I bought it, which was what I was hoping to do.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I honestly don't know. I've had a lot of people around me be less than considerate lately.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
One of my friends, mainly. She rarely asks how I am and doesn't contact me even if I've contacted her first. If she's got a problem, I'd rather she just say it because it's really annoying and makes me feel like shit.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Um, Christmas, and random things I've wanted that I was finally able to buy for myself like my camera. And, of course, music. :D

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I know I keep bringing this up, but graduating.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
"Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I guess that depends. Overall, sadder, but at the moment, I am happier than I've been the past few weeks.
ii. thinner or fatter? I'm pretty sure I've gained weight.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer, I would say.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercising.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Crying.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas at home with my family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
No.

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Big Bang Theory

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I don't really hate anyone, but the people I can't stand haven't changed in the last year.

25. What was the best book you read?
Frankenstein, or, the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. My friend Ben had been saying this was a great book, and I figured there's a reason it's a classic. It was great. Of course, it was very dark, but I liked the themes and the ideas in it.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bruno Mars. There are no words to describe how much I love this guy.

27. What did you want and get?
My DSi. Which I now have. And the 3DS comes out next year. *headdesk*

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
Sherlock Holmes or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I basically stayed at home because I was tired. I turned 23.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A friend who lived near me and actually acted like they gave a damn. I feel like I keep complaining about this, and while I'm not as depressed as I was, it's the truth.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Much better than it's been in the past. LOL. As far as fall/winter goes, I've kept moving past the college hoodie era. I've been doing it for a couple of years, but I rarely wear hoodies out of the house anymore.

32. What kept you sane?
Music, as always. It's so easy to connect with someone through it, even if you don't know them. You can always find someone who understands what you're going through.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Patrick Stump. Did you really need me to tell you that?

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'd have to go with the health care plan. I support it, but I had problems with what some people were saying about it all.

35. Who did you miss?
My grandmother, mostly. She isn't gone yet, but she doesn't act the way she used to either.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a ton of new people. I really can't pick out one.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Sometimes you have to let go of the people who seem like they don't care or fail to communicate and do what you need to do. If they eventually come around, great, and if they don't come around, then you'll at least have taken care of yourself and moved on to those who do care for you.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
You can be your own spotlight
You can be your own spotlight
You can be the star you can shine so bright
You can be your own
'Cause they're gonna tell you all the rules to break
To take away that light from somebody, somebody now
You can be your own spotlight
- Patrick Stump

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to anyone that I went with one of his. Seriously, though, it's scary how some of what he's been doing at the end of the year aligned with things in my life when I needed them. Music tends to do that for me, though. It's happened with other artists. I have to take the steps in 2011 to feel better now that I've spent a year figuring out what was summed up in the chorus to that song. Besides, I really can't think of any other songs that described 2010 for me. "California Gurls"? Come on.
