I guess it depends on your definition of chilvary...And (thinking back to Med Civ *cries from remembering that class* chilvary was just a romantic idea cause knights were actually rather brutal and nothing like what everyone idealizes them for) the idea of someone opening a car/building door every once in a while, for example, is just the idea that a gal can get it herself but another wants to get it for her...I think that is chilvarous...Or even the idea of defending someone's honor can be as easy as stepping up to a goon at a bar (granted I could probably take 'em) but it's the thought that counts...
And I agree with the "what a woman shouldn't say"...hell, I've been guilty of those things....many times. I guess the important part that it all comes back to is communicating...without that, it's all going to be terrible.
Some of us had the luck to avoid Med Civ. I'm talking about the Chilvary that gets me in troubble with my sister/mother because I didn't go way out of my way to go the extra 10 miles for some random person I don't know just because they were born with two x cromosomes. There are women out there who expect the man to come along, and take care of everything like they did in my grandparent's age before women could get equality and NEEDED a man because of their higher earning potential, and if you go back far enough voting, loans, properity, and well...everything. Long story short I have met several women that want a sizable cut of what "their man" has and brings in but still takes all of their own haul as well. This is an observation of a population of women that is not the majority but I have had the

I agree as to the Chilvary you are talking about though...the world is in a different era...and though it does happen (sadly, my major seems to have alot of them) that women still go to college to find a guy to support them in life...it's annoying...and actually makes me embarrassed of my own gender. And Joe's ex-wife was like that...she'd squeeze out every penny she could from him and keep all her own money...her own...wouldn't even put it toward anything that dealt with her kids. It might not be the majority but it's still frustrating and makes me what to smack them or throw them in front of a car saying "he's not here to save you now...do something for yourself, wench
