--frozen goods worth more than a lousy gunshot wound. [That sound would be a high-pitched plaintive whine.] I don't want to be a prostitute. I'm allergic to STDs.

[Admittedly, this isn't the first time Badou's woken up half-naked on some unknown alleyway. In fact, the alley's much cleaner than he remembers it, and this time he's 100% sure he still ( Read more... )

[Ayumu was on her way to the store to get something for dinner, but the sudden appearance of a half-naked one-eyed redhead kind of put a halt to that activity. He's pretty clearly a New Feather, so it's probably understandable, and he's fortunate to have ended up in town rather than in the middle of the forest... but still, she halts as he appears in the mouth of the alley, blinking in surprise.]

A... what?

You know... smokes? [He mimes the gesture, but his hands are shaking from the cold. Hypothermia might also be a concern.]

[Another blink.]

Smoke... like a fire? You do look cold. Here, this way, the shops aren't far. You should get inside.

O-ok. Yeah, that works. [Well, if he's gotta follow anyone, it might as well be some lady he's never met. The other option is freeze to death.]

This is gonna sound w-weird but - where are we?

[The clothing shop seems like the best option at the moment, given the cold and his state of dress (or lack thereof). Ayumu starts that direction, watching him with concern in her expression, making sure that he's actually going to follow along. And that he won't, like, fall over from hypothermia before they get there.]

It's called Luceti. Wherever you were before, I'm afraid this isn't it. First we should get you something better to wear, though.

That's not the name of a b-brothel, right? [He follows after her as best he can, because there's gotta be some honor among fetish mutants and he doesn't really have much of a choice.

Badou would say he's pretty damn far from home, considering the decor (which is present, almost abundant in comparison) and the lack of tower thrusting into the sky. He may actually be in Kansas. Or a really lame heaven without central heating. He opens his mouth to say something else, and lets out a violent sneeze instead.]

[That surprised/shocked look the question gets should be a good indication that it isn't a brothel, though inwardly Ayumu is wondering what kind of world this man is from that he'd immediately think of that. Interesting.]

No. It certainly isn't.

[She stops at the entrance of the clothing shop just in time for him to sneeze, at which she winces (could be sympathy, could be a 'ew don't sneeze on me' grimace, hard to say) and gestures for him to go inside.]

There's warmer clothing in there. Everything's provided free of cost, so take whatever you need.

[Well, that's a relief. The clothing store looks pretty legitimate to.] Really? T-Thanks lady. I owe you one.

[He's just going to move past her to get inside. Be careful, he's gross.] Hey, what's your name?

[She's probably seen worse. But she'll still draw back slightly out of his way, inclining her head in a sort of greeting.]

I'm Ayumu. I've been here for several months, so the least I can do is show you where to find warm clothing. And food - it's over in that shop there, or there are restaurants around.

Badou. Let's chat when I'm not freezing to death. We can get dinner or something. My treat. [He grins, but he's not even trying here because he knows he'd totally fail. She's already seen him shirtless. There's not enough alcohol and charm in the world. But he needs more information and she's gotta have something by now.]

Oh, that's not necessary. I can answer whatever questions you need any time... you can just call me on the book thing.

[And she smiles and offers a small, polite bow. She still has errands to run, now that she knows the stranger isn't going to pass out in the alleyway... well, not unless he goes back there, which isn't really her problem.]

Alright, thanks. [That works. He's being blown off and the warm store beckons, so he waves goodbye lets the door shut behind him. It's a while later that he realizes he can't look up a first name in the phone book.

...Yeah, not the first time this has happened either, but he's got a feeling that wasn't what she was talking about. After this he's backtracking to the alley.]
