I usually don't do this, but...

I normally don't call attention to the anniversary of 9/11, because it has turned into such a political bargaining chip for the idiot Neocons... in a lot of ways, I feel it has lost its meaning. But despite that, I think it's very important for all of us sitting in our nice warm houses, offices, coffee shops, whatever -- where there is next to no threat of being blown to bits by a bomb -- to remember that there is a war still raging in Iraq and that it's our fault and that innocent people are still dying every day and that our economy is complete shit because of it. The mainstream media is drooling over the election and the latest Sarah Palin bullshit and they've forgotten about the war.

So, that said, my Mom found an independent journalist in Iraq online who seems to be telling it like it is. His stuff is interesting and a good reminder of what's really going on over there. No matter who the next president is, there's no clear path to getting out of this thing without huge casualties, financial difficulty, and losing political ground. In a nutshell: we're in a pickle.

So, read this, please... keep it alive at least in the peripheral of your consciousness... maybe some day we'll be able to do something about it.
